PITCH UPDATE AND FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE
Wisbech Town HC welcomed sponsors and former members to its home on Harecroft Road on Saturday, as part of its first ever Club Day. The event was designed to both celebrate the clubs recent successes, and to unveil exciting plans for the clubs new astro turf project, which is due to begin construction at the end of March.
Chairman Matt Esser spoke with guests, as well as the clubs current players, outlining the details of the plans for the new astro turf, whilst also introducing a new fundraising initiative which the club will undertake in the coming weeks in order to secure a further £50,000 to complete the pitch replacement project.
“It was fantastic to see so many of our current sponsors, and former members, join us on Saturday.” Esser said. “The day presented a fantastic opportunity for Wisbech Town Hockey Club to engage with a large number of people who hold the club very close to their heart, and to share the details of our new astro turf pitch, as well as unveiling our new fundraising endeavours.”.
“We recognise that £50,000 is a significant amount of money, but we are determined not to let this great opportunity pass us by, and we will work with our membership to raise as much as possible in the coming weeks, whilst also continuing to look for any donations or grants which can help compliment our efforts.”.
WTHC is delighted to confirm that the pitch refurbishment will be commencing on the March 20th 2023!
Work is expected to last 12 weeks (further information about the final rounds of league games will be circulated to members in due course) and will include the installation of a new Shock Pad, a new Sand Dressed playing surface, LED floodlights, a new spectator area, and a new perimeter fence.
With £50,000 to raise before the competition date, we invite current and past players, parents, and members of the wider community to join our new fundraising working group!
