MENS 1ST XI STAGES DRAMATIC COMEBACK
MENS 1ST XI 3 - PELICANS HC 3
The men's first team welcomed their local rivals and league leaders Pelicans looking to stop a difficult run of defeats. The game started at a frenetic pace, but Wisbech controlled the early parts, so it was a disappointment to find themselves going one down after a penalty stroke decision. Following a well worked short corner it was 2-0 at half time and the men in red had it all to do.
The team talk was positive, focussing on a good performance and that the next goal was crucial. Unfortunately, it came from Pelicans on the counter attack and it was 3-0.
Not one player let their head drop, and, buoyed by a large crowd, Wisbech set about getting back into the game. Sam Markillie started the comeback, deflecting home a Jack Bass pass. It was Bass’ turn to get on the score sheet shortly after, and with 15 minutes to go Wisbech smelt blood. They continued to push but being reduced to 10 men for the remainder of the game due to a yellow card it looked like it was going to be another game without points. With 3 minutes left, Tom Jupp snatched the goal Wisbech thoroughly deserved, crashing home a beautiful strike from a short corner. The league leaders were shocked, but could not feel hard done by.
A brilliant team performance and a crucial point. Player of the Game: Danny Haynes.
MENS 2ND XI 2 - MARCH TOWN 2
Wisbech Men's 2nd XI hosted top of the table March 1sts at Harecroft Road on Saturday, looking to improve on last week's performance against St Neots.

March managed to convert a short corner after a fortunate deflection on the left post and added a second in similar fashion half-way though the 2nd half. Wisbech never stopped battling and competing in all areas of the pitch and holding the visitors to account. This excellent team effort resulted in a through ball from Jordan Trundle being passed through to rebound off the post with that man Garner on hand to tap in for the equaliser. A cracking goal line chest high stick save from Paul Lawrence at a short corner kept the visitors at bay - Wisbech keeper Kevin Shippey also made numerous saves throughout the game to deny March any further goals. A fair result for both sides on the day with honours even at 2-2.
LADIES 2ND XI 9 - BOURNE-DEEPING 2ND XI 0
Ladies 2s faced Bourne Deeping ahead of a very busy day for Wisbech Town.
Despite the previous weeks score line, the ladies were determined to work as a unit to achieve the win.

Shortly after, Baker scored again which then also saw an opportunity for Lou Sandall to slip a lovely goal past the Bourne keeper. Another shot by Oliwia Bolka saw the Wisbech side up 4-0 at half time.
The second half saw both Bolka and Baker gaining a hattrick, with Sandall gaining her second goal. Alice Salmon also managed to sneak one goal in, stemming from some great link up from the back 4. Some excellent team-work combined with great work rate down the right from Amber C King and Harriet Bateman saw some brilliant assist and the whole team certainly making up from last week.
Next week the side face top half table sitters St Neots where Wisbech must do more of the same to guarantee a win!
