PAVILION CROWDFUNDER PAGE LAUNCH

Wisbech Town Cricket & Hockey Club (WTCHC) is delighted to launch its brand new Crowdfunder page, as the club moves towards completion of the final phase of its project to rebuild the pavilion.

In June, the Club released details of The 190K Challenge, which included a funding target of £115,000 for demolition of the current pavilion and installation of temporary changing and pavilion facilities, construction of the new pavilion, and installation of contents and furnishings within the new pavilion.

The remaining £75,000 encompassed under The 190K Challenge represents renewal and replacement of WTCHC’s cricket facilities and equipment, and this will be handled via a separate Crowdfunder page - more details on this can be found below.

WTCHC remains forever grateful to those that have helped us reach this point as donors, fundraisers, sponsors, and volunteers - as well as helping the club meet it’s day-to-day needs throughout the cricket and hockey seasons, your efforts were invaluable in helping us secure a new Astro turf pitch, maintenance equipment, storage solutions, and benches last year - and we look forward to seeing the club and community come together once again as we take another big step in securing the club’s long term future.

THE PAVILION CROWDFUNDER PAGE

The Pavilion Crowdfunder page has a funding target of £115,000 for demolition of the current pavilion and installation of temporary changing and pavilion facilities, construction of the new pavilion, and installation of contents and furnishings within the new pavilion.

Any additional funds raised over and above the £115,000 will be put towards improving the car park facilities at WTCHC, landscaping the area around the club, and additional storage containers for club equipment.

The page is LIVE now, and can be accessed HERE

An initial fundraising period of 12-weeks has been set for the page, but this can be extended (12-weeks is the maximum allowed by the Crowdfunder website).

WTCHC will also be organising a number of fundraising events to help the club reaches its funding goals, including:

  • Auction of Promises

  • Buy-a-Brick Scheme

CRICKET FACILITIES & EQUIPMENT CROWDFUNDER PAGE

WTCHC’s aim for the Cricket Facilities and Equipment Crowdfunder is to raise a total of £75,000.

This is broken down into an Initial Phase of £36,000, which will allow the club to purchase two new practise nets (£28,000), and a new artificial pitch for use by the Junior Cricket section (£8,000), with a Stretch Phase of a further £39,000 which would allow the club to purchase three new practise nets with security fencing (an additional cost of £26,000), a second artificial pitch (£8,000), and three new covers for the main cricket square (£5,000).

Any additional funds raised over and above the £75,000 target will be put towards the cost of four new sight screens, and maintenance equipment for the outfield and grounds.

The page will be launched in the near future.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why Do We Need Two Crowdfunder Pages?

As with any major project, funding is key. As a community sports club, WTCHC is eligible to apply for a number of grants and funds to help towards the costs of such projects, and in this instance the club is making an application to Sport England’s ‘Movement Fund’ as part of the project to upgrade the club’s cricket facilities and equipment.

The decision was therefore made to have a dedicated Crowdfunder page for the pavilion rebuild, and a dedicated page for the cricket facilities and equipment, so there is clear delineation between the two for the purposes of grant application, and fundraising.

How Does This Affect Me?

Fundraisers and donors have the option to contribute to one Crowdfunder page, or both - it is however important that any donation or fundraising activity is associated with the relevant Crowdfunder page you wish to contribute towards. Any donations made to the pavilion Crowdfunder page will solely go towards that project, and vice versa.

For example, you might wish to donate £500 - this can be done via a single donation of £500 to either the Pavilion Crowdfunder, or Cricket Facilities and Equipment Crowdfunder; or if you want to make a contribution to each fund, you would make a £250 donation to the Pavilion Crowdfunder page, and then a separate £250 donation to the Cricket Facilities and Equipment Crowdfunder page.

Can I Run My Own Crowdfunder Page That Connects To The WTCHC Ones?

Yes! You can create your own Crowdfunder page which can be linked to either of the WTCHC pages (depending on which project you’d like to support), with all funds you raise going towards the chosen project pot.

Perhaps you’d like to do a sponsored swim? Undertake a 24-hour dance challenge? Or take a brussel sprout for a walk? However you want to help WTCHC meet its funding goals, we’d be very grateful for your help and support!

How Else Can I Help?

There are a number of other ways you can help WTCHC:

  • Donate - a one-off donation of any amount on either of our Crowdfunder pages (please remember to tick the Gift Aid box! By adding Gift Aid, you'll increase your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you.

  • Spread the Word - Share this project on your social media pages, and tell friends, family, and local businesses about the project. The more people that are reached, the more support the club hopes to get.
